Valencia County is located in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The county was formed in 1852 and named after the town of Valencia, New Mexico, which is named after Valencia, Spain. The county seat is Los Lunas. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2016, the county has a population of approximately 75,626 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,068 square miles of which 1,066 square miles is land and 2.1 square miles is water. Valencia County borders the following counties: Bernalillo County to the north; Torrance County to the east; Socorro County to the south and Cibola County to the west. Valencia County Clerk’s Office Information

The County Clerk serves as the Recorder of Valencia County on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners. The County Clerk is responsible for keeping records, resolutions and ordinances adopted by the Board of County Commissioners. The County Clerk records all proceedings of the board; makes regular entries of all resolutions and decisions in all questions concerning the raising of money; signs all orders issued by the board for the payment of money; records the action and records the receipts of the county treasurer that show the income and expenditures of the county; preserves and files all accounts acted upon by the commission, and so on.

The County Clerk serves as the Chief administrator of elections and is responsible for holding all elections except municipal elections. The County Clerk’s Office is responsible for voter affidavits, voter registrations, and maintaining all records pertaining to elections. The Clerk also issues marriage licenses and other permits and licenses.
